A dirt bike rider was killed Sunday in an accident at Orlando Motocross Park.
According to Orange County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to 19400 East Colonial Drive for a report of an accident involving two dirt bikes.
Upon arrival, deputies found a man in his 30s who was struck by another rider after falling off his own dirt bike during a jump.
He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
He was a popular local figure in the region’s motocross community.
“That’s Chris Bragg and Will, my kid, four years ago in Bartow,” a friend of Bragg said.
Bragg’s friend showed WESH 2 photos of Bragg, the leader of her son’s motocross team.
She described him as not only a skilled racer but also a dedicated mentor, coaching young riders as they learned how to navigate the turns, jumps, drops, step up’s and downs.
Bragg was on the track at Orlando MX Park in east Orange County Sunday morning, when witnesses said he fell off.
That’s when they say Bragg was struck by another dirt bike.
The sheriff’s office says deputies arrived at the track to find the man with critical injuries.
Paramedics worked quickly to stabilize him before rushing him to a hospital, where he later died.
The owner of the track declined to comment about what happened, saying the sheriff’s office is investigating.
A spokesperson for the sheriff said the investigation into the death of one of the more popular locals in the motocross community so far points to a tragic accident.
Bragg leaves behind a wife and two children.
