Dixie County woman sentenced to 2 years in prison on child abuse and drug charges

The daughter of a candidate for sheriff of Dixie County has been sentenced to spend two years in prison on child abuse and drug charges.

Deputies arrested Sara Ridgeway, 43, more than a year ago after they say they found her passed out in her car from using heroin. A young child was also in the car.

Ridgeway is the daughter of Julie Herring, who is currently running for sheriff in Dixie County.
