Dog killed in house fire on Cody Lane in Escambia County

A dog died in a house fire Monday morning in Escambia County.

The fire broke out around 11:30 a.m. at a home on Cody Lane.

Escambia Fire Rescue crews arrived on scene at 11:35 a.m. to a working fire.

Everyone made it out of the home safely except for a dog, which was located deceased, according to Battalion Chief Curt Isakson.

The homeowner told fire officials that the fire started in the AC unit.

No further details were released.
