Downed power line sparks fire at Orlando home during Hurricane Milton

A downed power line sparked a fire at an Orlando home Wednesday night as Hurricane Milton moved through the area, according to the Orlando Fire Department.

The home in the 5100 block of Jeannine Court was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived just after 11:30 p.m.

“We just heard some pops, the light had already gone out — the power went off from the transformer,” a neighbor said. “My daughter went out to see what was going on and she started screaming ‘Fire!’”

The department said one firefighter was injured and taken to the hospital in stable condition.

No one in the home was injured, but two cats were killed.

No other details have been released.
