A driver was arrested on Sunday after an early-morning hit-and-run crash left a pedestrian dead in southwest Miami-Dade
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a gray Genesis was traveling north on U.S. 1, approaching Southwest 214th Street, when a man trying to cross U.S. 1 was struck.
The driver did not stop to help the injured man, who was later taken to the hospital by first responders, where he died, FHP said. The identity of the man who was killed wasn’t released.
Authorities later located the Genesis and the driver was arrested, troopers confirmed.
The driver, 26-year-old Jorge G. Arevalo Sorto, is facing a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving death, Miami-Dade jail records showed.
