Driver dead after fiery crash on 1-10 West in Escambia County

A driver died after driving off I-10 and hitting a tree Tuesday afternoon in Escambia County.

It happened around 2:50 p.m. on I-10 West just before the Davis Highway exit.

The video shows a vehicle fully engulfed in flames on the side of the highway.

FHP says a witness saw the SUV driving westbound in the inside lane. They say the driver veered right, leaving the roadway and hitting a large oak tree. Then the SUV burst into flames.

“No identification on the driver or the vehicle has been made at this time,” says FHP.
