A driver escaped from his or her vehicle Thursday morning after crashing into a canal in Davie, authorities confirmed.
According to Davie police, the single-vehicle crash was reported in the 5100 block of Orange Drive.
Sky 10 was above the scene at 7:15 a.m. as the white vehicle was completely submerged.
According to authorities, the driver lost control of the car and drove directing into a concrete barrier near the canal.
Police said the vehicle then continued into the water.
The driver was able to get out of the vehicle on their own and was then rescued from the water by responding officers.
Police said efforts to remove the vehicle from the water are underway. Authorities have blocked off one eastbound lane of Orange Drive.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
