Driver in stolen Jeep flees after fatally hitting pedestrian in St. Pete

 A driver in a stolen Jeep ran away after fatally hitting a pedestrian in St. Petersburg Monday night, according to police.

The crash happened at about 8 p.m. in the 1200 block of 9th Avenue South. The pedestrian, Edward Webb, 70, was taken to a hospital where they died, police said.

The driver abandoned the Jeep near the crash and ran away, according to police. The Jeep was determined to have been stolen.
