A semi-truck overturned on I-10 in Escambia County Thursday morning.
It happened around 8:30 a.m. on I-10 west near mile marker 12.
According to FHP, the semi driver — a 48-year-old Plains, Georgia man — failed to apply the braking system in time due to traffic congestion. He tried to swerve to avoid hitting other vehicles, but collided with a trailer attached to a pickup truck in front of him.
FHP says the semi continued westbound, leaving the roadway to the left and colliding with a guardrail before being redirected back onto Interstate 10.
The semi driver attempted again to avoid colliding with vehicles, according to FHP, but struck the left side of a cargo van. The semi then hit a guardrail before crashing onto its side.
The Georgia man was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
