A driver operating a military-style Humvee was hospitalized after a single-vehicle crash in front of 1803 Surfside Boulevard in Cape Coral on Wednesday morning.
According to witnesses, the driver nearly struck a man walking his dog and several objects, including telephone poles and mailboxes, before jumping a median and crossing into oncoming traffic.
He then reportedly crashed into trees on a sidewalk and witnesses say he was ejected from the vehicle, leaving him unconscious when first responders arrived.
Paramedics treated the man for his injuries on scene before he was taken to the hospital.
