Medics took a dump truck driver to the hospital after a crash on Florida’s Turnpike in northwest Miami-Dade late Monday morning.
The crash happened at around 11 a.m. in the Turnpike’s northbound lanes near Northwest 106th Street, west of Medley.
Images from traffic cameras showed the truck flipped onto its side.
According to county fire officials, rescuers extricated the driver from the dump truck.
He or she was being taken to a local hospital, a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokesperson said; officials hadn’t yet provided specifics on his or her condition as of around 11:35 a.m.
The crash blocked the left lanes of the Turnpike as authorities investigated and cleaned up a fuel leak.
Traffic camera images showed backups in the area.
