An 84-year-old man from Morriston died on Friday afternoon after his sedan veered off the roadway and struck a tree in Levy County.
At around 4:40 p.m. on Friday, January 12, the elderly man was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 41, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.
FHP stated that when the sedan was north of the County Road 326 intersection, the driver “failed to keep his vehicle in its proper lane,” and it entered the east grassy shoulder.
While on the shoulder, the front end of the sedan proceeded to crash into a tree, which caused the vehicle to come to a final rest.
The driver and sole occupant of the sedan sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Levy County Fire Rescue personnel.
The name of the driver was not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
