A collision in Jupiter killed an elderly woman when her car was struck by a truck in Jupiter on Sunday night, the sheriff’s office reports.
Catherine Root, 80, was traveling eastbound on Indiantown Road when a Ford F-150 ploughed through the intersection and struck her car, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office crash report.
The F-150 driver, Patrick Gardner, 23, reportedly failed to yield the right of way to Root, causing her to hit the truck on the left-side door, the report continued.
The impact sent both vehicles spinning, the F-150 crashing into a metal guard rail, and Root coming to a rest in the turn lane. Gardner did not report any injuries.
Almost an hour after the crash, Root died of her injuries at 10:38 p.m.
