Family announces death of 3-year-old boy struck by SUV in Florida

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) — A 3-year-old Florida boy has died after being struck by an SUV and left critically injured in Escambia County Sunday night.

The family confirmed to WEAR on Monday that 3-year-old Levi Austin Williams has died.

Florida Highway Patrol said Levi was taken to Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital Sunday night after he attempted to walk across Blue Angel Parkway and was struck by the SUV

Authorities said the boy was walking across the southbound lane when the SUV and pickup truck began to approach. FHP said the SUV was unable to react in time and collided with the child.

The pickup truck was traveling behind the SUV, and was unable to stop as the SUV began applying brakes and collided with the vehicle.

Grandmother Lisa Oliver said the family was having a crawfish boil on Sunday night and explained he crossed a fenced-in area. WEAR is told Levi never left their sight until seconds before tragedy struck.
