Firefighters with Ocala Fire Rescue (OFR) said a family has been displaced but no injuries were reported following a house fire Thursday night.
Firefighters said it happened at Berkley Pointe Apartments located at 2869 Northeast 7th Street in Ocala.
When they arrived, firefighters said they found heavy black smoke pouring from a first-floor apartment unit whose occupants had already left the building.
Firefighters extinguished the fire, rescuing the family cat.
Once the fire was out, crews said they searched for hot spots that could rekindle the fire.
The fire was determined to be electrical and displaced one adult, two children, and their cat.
While no injuries were reported at the scene, an occupant from an unrelated apartment unit was transported to a local hospital following a concern raised to EMS personnel.
Additional agencies that responded to the scene included the Fire Prevention Division, the Ocala Police Department, the Building Department, Ocala Electric Utility, and Marion County Fire Rescue.
