Family hears disturbance during call before Boca Raton murder-suicide: Police

Before a murder-suicide in Boca Raton on Monday night, police say the victim called her family saying her husband wanted to kill her.

The Boca Raton Police Department (BRPD) said at around 10 p.m., a 62-year-old man and 60-year-old woman were found dead from gunshot wounds inside their apartment on NE 45th Street.

Before the tragic discovery, Ana Josefa Pardo Gonzalez called a family member and said her husband—Gilbert Cruz Fernandez — wanted to kill her. The family member said there was a disturbance in the background while on the phone and immediately went to the apartment with other relatives, the news release stated. After arriving, they called police.

Police said officers forced their way into the apartment and found the victim and Fernandez dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Following an initial investigation, detectives said the woman was shot by her husband before he turned the gun on himself.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Alfredo Lima at (561) 620-6246.
