Family trio arrested after altercation with Pensacola Police outside Seville Quarter

Three family members were arrested after an altercation with Pensacola Police outside Seville Quarter in late November.

Those charged were:

  • B S 28, of Gulf Breeze — battery on a law enforcement officer (two counts), resisting arrest, trespassing after warning, disorderly intoxication
  • L S, 38, of Gulf Breeze — battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest
  • K S, 23, of Milton — battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest

The incident happened on Nov. 29 around 12:30 a.m.

According to the report, as the S trio approached the entrance of Seville Quarter, police could tell B was “extremely intoxicated.” Officers noted he was unsteady on his feet and being held upright by his brother K, while he also had “very slurred speech.”

The report states Seville staff and Pensacola Police told Bishop he could not enter due to his intoxication, but he continued to try to get in. Officers noted that Bishop was told to leave nearly a dozen times.

According to the report, an officer eventually grabbed B’s wrist to arrest him for disorderly intoxication, which is when he began to resist arrest.

The report states B, at one point, grabbed an officer’s outer carrier vest and refused to let go.

“I delivered several strikes to B’s head and face while giving lawful commands to let go of [the officer], turn over onto his stomach and put his hands behind his back, but he would not,” an officer wrote in the report.

According to the report, an officer deployed his Taser on B after he grabbed another officer’s wrist. Additional officers arrived on scene and took B into custody.

The report states that as officers were fighting with B, K tried to jump in, but he was pulled away by an officer. Officers noted that K then continued grabbing multiple officers.

According to the report, as officers were dealing with K, L got involved and grabbed an officer.

“After continuing to resist and grab onto officers, K was tased and placed under arrest,” officers noted in the report. “L was also soon placed under arrest by additional arriving officers.”

The report states B was initially hospitalized with a small laceration to his forehead before being booked into Escambia County Jail on Monday on $40,000 bond.

K and L were both released from Escambia County Jail on Nov. 30 on $5,000 bond.
