Fatal crash involving a semi-truck on I-75S

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Interstate 75 southbound near Bonita Beach Road.

Troopers responded to the scene located near mile marker 117 at around 12:50 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to FHP, a 33-year-old man from Fort Myers was driving a vehicle south on I-75 in the outside lane north of Bonita Beach Road.

A semi-truck, operated by a 45-year-old woman from Cape Coral, was parked on the outside paved shoulder of I-75S.

The male driver failed to negotiate a left curve, traveled off the roadway, and entered the outside paved shoulder, causing the vehicle to collide with the semi-truck.

FHP reported that the man died on the scene upon arrival.

This crash is reportedly impacting traffic as motorists evacuate the area due to Hurricane Milton.

The crash remains under investigation.
