A 16-year-old Old Town boy struck an oncoming vehicle Sunday night, killing a Steinhatchee man.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, the accident occurred at 11:26 p.m. Sunday. The teen was driving a Ford F-150 truck on County Road 358, near SW 614th Street, which is just east of Steinhatchee in Dixie County.
For unknown reasons, the teen’s F-150 veered into the oncoming lane, striking a Ford Ranger head on. The 65-year-old Ford Ranger driver was wearing a seatbelt but died in the collision.
The 16-year-old driver was not wearing a seatbelt but suffered only minor injuries. His 17-year-old passenger, a male also from Old Town, also suffered minor injuries.
“This is a continuing investigation,” FHP reported. “Further information will be made available at a later date.”
