A Fort Lauderdale police officer was injured in a crash Monday morning on Interstate 95, authorities confirmed.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Indiana Miranda, the crash was reported at 5:53 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway near Sunrise Boulevard.

Miranda said the marked police vehicle was sideswiped by another vehicle.

She said the officer sustained a minor injury.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue spokesman Frank Guzman confirmed that the officer was transported to Broward Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

“A supervisor and several members of the Ft. Lauderdale Police Department responded and investigated the crash,” Miranda said in an email to Local 10 News.

The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.
