FHP investigating fatal hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian.

The Florida Highway Patrol is working to find the driver who hit a runner Wednesday morning. Troopers say the female was running in Santa Rosa Beach on Highway 98 in the apron of the road.

According to the report a truck drifted out of their lane and hit the woman running and left the scene.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

FHP reports they were able to locate the truck that hit her in Panama City later in the day.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office reports they are on the scene of what appears to be a fatal hit-and-run involving a pedestrian.

Officials say the accident happened on the north side of Highway 98 near Mussett Bayou in Santa Rosa Beach.

The agency has one westbound lane of Highway 98 blocked in the area. Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
