A suspected drunk driver is dead after he walked into traffic and got hit by several cars, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say it happened in Daytona Beach on I-95 southbound, near LPGA Blvd., around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
A trooper stopped a 40-year-old man from Jacksonville because they thought he was possibly drunk.
Investigators say the trooper told the man to stay in the car, but he didn’t listen.
That’s when the trooper tased him, which led to a brief struggle on the side of the road.
Soon after, troopers say the man walked into oncoming traffic, where he got hit by several cars.
First responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
Those lanes were blocked for more than five hours Saturday night.
The scene is now cleared, and the crash is still under investigation.
