Martin County Fire Rescue (MCFR) said crews contained a car fire on a busy highway over the weekend.
MCFR said the call came in at around 7 a.m. on Saturday, January 6. For unknown reasons, a car ran off the Turnpike, near mile marker 128, sustained significant damage and caught fire.
Luckily, the occupants inside the car could get out before it became completely engulfed in flames. The people suffered minor injuries.
Both southbound lanes were closed while firefighters extinguished the blaze, and reopened once the scene was cleared.
