A fire that destroyed a Springfield home under renovation overnight spread to the home next door, causing significant damage to the 124-year-old home.

The cause of the house fire on Market Street is unknown.

The owners of the home next door told News4JAX they were alerted about the fire around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Video provided to News4JAX shows sparks flying when firefighters cut the power as they battled the blaze.

The car in the driveway of the neighbors’ home was also significantly burned, along with the side of the house, which they said was built in 1900.

The neighbors said the house where the fire started eventually began to collapse, which spread the fire to their property.

They told News4JAX that the house where the fire started was being renovated and work had been done on it for the last 2½ years.

The neighbors said they had been renovating their home for about 13 years and had it on the market to sell before the fire damage.
