Fire erupts at 2-story building in northwest Miami-Dade

More than 30 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded to a fire at a business on Sunday night.

Firefighters arrived at the business along Northwest Second Avenue to find heavy smoke coming from the two-story building.

One witness told Local 10 News that he was inside the building when he smelled smoke and then saw that the hallway was “jet black.”

“I came out the window,” the man said. “I didn’t know where the fire was coming from. I couldn’t see nothing – I mean, I’m on second floor up there, so I just opened a window and jumped out.”

Firefighters had to upgrade the call to get more units in to help fight the flames.

Crews stretched hose lines through the roof and the middle of the building to put out all hot spots.

Crews were able to get the fire under control. Thankfully, there were no injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
