Around 4 p.m. on Sunday, the Cape Coral Fire Department, Cape Coral Police Department and Lee County EMS responded to a fire on NE 1st Terrace that caused neighbors on the street to see if the homeowners were ok quickly.
Julian Rangeo was one of the many Cape Coral residents NBC2 spoke to. He said he saw a lot of black smoke in the air and flames coming from this house as the area was blocked off.
“We were told to stop at a certain point and we just like got a good angle of the house it looked pretty bad in there,” said Rangeo.
The battalion chief on the scene told NBC2 the fire started in the garage, the roof partially collapsed, and charcoal was everywhere.
“I think that’s really good that they got out of there safe and sound because not everybody makes it out alive in those fires. They’re really fortunate people,” Rangeo added.
Outside the garage, you can also see the rear of the sedan melted from the heat.
“I just hope that they were at least able to get some stuff because we have no idea what was inside that house. There could’ve been a wedding ring or anything like that,” said Rangeo.
Despite the damage we were told there were no injuries, the Cape Coral Fire Department told NBC2 the fire is still under investigation.
