Fire ignites under mobile home in Silver Springs

Marion County firefighters responded to a mobile home in Silver Springs early Wednesday morning after flames were spotted underneath the residence.

At around 1:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to a mobile home located in the 16500 block of NE 58th Street in Silver Springs. According to MCFR, a 911 caller had reported that flames were spreading underneath the home.

Shortly before 1:50 a.m., the first MCFR unit arrived on scene and observed the fire underneath the mobile home. Firefighters quickly used hoses to blast the flames with water as additional MCFR units arrived on scene to assist.

MCFR stated that firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, preventing the fire from making its way into the mobile home.

The mobile home’s occupants were able to safely exit the structure prior to the arrival of firefighters.

The fire was called under control at around 1:55 a.m.

There were no injuries reported.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause and origin of the fire, according to Marion County Fire Rescue.
