Fleeing burglary suspect causes crash, shutting down Tampa intersection: police

An intersection in Tampa’s Jackson Heights neighborhood was shut down Monday morning after a burglary suspect caused a crash.

Just before 7 a.m., Tampa police were called to a reported burglary in progress at 3222 N. 40th Street.

The suspect sped away in a vehicle with its headlights turned off, according to TPD. The suspect crashed into another vehicle at N. 34th Street and E. 18th Avenue.

The suspect was taken to the hospital as a trauma alert. The other driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The intersection is closed while Tampa police investigate the incident.
