Florida HS student jumps into action to perform CPR on injured motorcyclist.

A 17-year-old high school student jumped into action Monday morning after a motorcyclist crashed in Gulf Breeze, Florida.

The motorcyclist crashed around 7 a.m. on Daniel Drive as many Gulf Breeze students were headed into class.

That’s when Cole Clark stepped up — performing CPR on the injured motorcyclist.

Clark says he saw the motorcyclist lying in the road as he was on his walk to school.

When it all happened, my heart dropped, I’m not gonna lie,” he said. “My first thought was that’s somebody’s husband that they woke up to perfectly fine and said ‘I love you babe, have a good day, come back safe.’

Clark is a football player at Gulf Breeze High School who graduates this May. He has big dreams of playing college ball and pursuing a career in the medical field.

He got his first taste of his future profession Monday morning.

Clark — who got CPR certified at school — ran over to the injured motorcyclist, who he says was unresponsive.

In my head, I was like, ‘I gotta do something,'” Clark said. “I did two 30-second compressions, I got him to breathe again. Shortly after, the police showed up and three adults showed up.

The motorcyclist is now recovering in the hospital.

Clark says an estimated 20 cars drove past the crashed motorcyclist.

His father Dustin Garner says he couldn’t be prouder of his son because most people would’ve kept driving.

I think more people should’ve stopped,” Garner said. “20 cars went by and it was the 17-year-old Gulf Breeze student that stopped and did what 20 other people before him should’ve done.

Clark remains humble, saying he’s not a hero, but just did the right thing.

“I’ve had people pass away like that in my life and it’s not OK to just sit there and do nothing,” he said. “Driving by is not acceptable.”

Clark will be majoring in sports medicine in the fall, tying together his love for helping people and his love for sports.
