A 33-year-old man had his eyes closed and mouth wide open with one hand on the gear shift when a deputy, who apparently snapped a few photos, approached him last week snoozing at a stop sign.
Gabriel Ngangang, of St. Cloud, Florida, simply dozed off, but the circumstances surrounding this nap landed him in the Brevard County Jail where he remains as of Monday morning, facing four criminal charges. The man’s arrest is credited to a concerned citizen who reported a suspicious vehicle obeying the stop sign a “little too serious.”
By the time a Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputy arrived, Ngangang was still fast asleep.
The official snapped a few photos through the car’s windows, which clearly show the 33-year-old in the driver seat with one hand on the gear shift, a Four Loko, which is a 24-ounce malt-liquor beverage, next to him, and — ironically — a mattress in the back of the vehicle.
Once awoken, Ngangang was asked to exit his car. He “had some trouble” performing the tasks requested of him in the DUI investigation, officials said.
The man was detained, which appears to have startled him as the photo shows, while his car was searched. Inside, BCSO deputies uncovered a glass pipe and glass jar, testing positive for meth and codeine, respectively.
Ngangang is charged with DUI, possession of an open container in a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, jail records said. The man’s next court date is scheduled February 8.
