Fort Myers man accused of driving stolen car more than 110 mph, hiding in Harlem Heights apartments

A Fort Myers man was arrested after allegedly speeding past cops at more than 110 miles per hour in a stolen car before attempting to hide in apartments on Saturday.

Pete Bertolotti, 30, was arrested on Saturday after Lee County deputies saw him driving past them at the McGregor Boulevard and Williams Road intersection.

According to reports, Bertolotti was driving around 117 miles per hour.

Deputies say they attempted to stop him but he sped away before trying to hide in a friend’s apartment at Lago Del Sol in Harlem Heights.

The car Bertolotti was driving was reportedly stolen from Charlotte County.

Deputies say they attempted to get Bertolotti out of the apartment with commands, but he did not listen so they sent in a K9.

LCSO was able to find him, along with two others who reportedly had out-of-county warrants.

Documents say Bertolotti was charged with:

  • Driving under the influence
  • Driving with a suspended license
  • Probation violation
  • Resisting an officer
  • Vehicle theft
  • Flee/elude police
  • Three counts of fraud
  • Grand theft

According to LCSO, Bertolotti is still in custody at the Lee County Jail.
