A Fort Myers woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Charlotte County on Friday afternoon.
The Florida Highway Patrol says a 59-year-old woman was pronounced dead on the scene after a crash at the SR-31 and Bermont Road intersection just north of Babcock Ranch.
Troopers say the woman was driving west on Bermont Rd, approaching the intersection at SR-31.
At the same time, a pickup truck towing a trailer was traveling north toward the same intersection.
The woman reportedly did not stop for a red light as the pickup truck was coming through the intersection.
Troopers say the front of the woman’s car struck the right side of the pickup truck. The pickup truck traveled into a ditch filled with water and collided with a concrete pole.
According to reports, the woman was pronounced dead on the scene.
Neither driver’s identity has been shared at this time. There are no reports of the pickup truck driver’s injuries. FHP says this crash is still under investigation.
