A Marathon gas station on Maricamp Road in southeast Ocala was destroyed by a fire late Wednesday night.
Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to the Marathon gas station located at 9433 SE Maricamp Road at 11:39 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, in response to a commercial structure fire.
At the time, the 911 caller reported that there were smoke and flames visible from the structure.
Two minutes after they were dispatched, MCFR crews arrived on the scene to find smoke and flames visible throughout the storefront of the 2,000-square-foot structure at the gas station.
Firefighters were able to take the fire under control at 11:53 p.m., according to a statement from MCFR.
A search of the building was conducted and it was determined that there was no one inside the building at the time of the fire.
There were no injuries reported and the cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
