A girl is in the hospital after she was struck by a vehicle Friday morning while riding a scooter in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 8:44 a.m. at the intersection of Avalon Park and Golden Isle boulevards, troopers said.
According to FHP, the crash involved only the girl on the scooter — who troopers described as a high school student — and the vehicle that struck her. The girl was awake and verbal at last check, troopers said.
A roadblock in the southbound lanes of Avalon Park Boulevard has since been lifted in the area.
The crash involving the scooter happened about an hour after a Volkswagen Jetta and a Nissan Pathfinder collided at the same intersection around 7:34 a.m., what troopers said led to no medical transports or roadblocks as both drivers relocated to a nearby parking lot.
FHP is still investigating both crashes, adding they were not related.
This is a developing story.
