A Fruitland Park woman was arrested for battery after allegedly biting her boyfriend during an argument over bills and chores after church.
An officer responded to a civil disturbance at an undisclosed Lake County residence around 2:08 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.
Upon arrival, another officer was already speaking to the male victim who advised that he was engaged in a verbal argument with his girlfriend, 27-year-old C M S, over bills and household tasks after church. She began throwing items around the house, so he started recording on his cellphone. He knew to record due to previous incidents, the report said.
The victim then played the video for the officers. It showed S throwing items, yelling and tearing up papers while that victim was in a different vicinity. He began to walk somewhere else when the video got turned around and showed her biting his upper right front bicep. He was heard saying, “Get off me,” and the video became unclear, ending with him in the front porch area, the report said.
At some point during the altercation, the victim stated S ripped off his shirt, at which time he picked up a torn damp white tank top. He said she left the house with her cat, so he put her belongings on the front screened-in porch table in an effort to assist her with moving out. S returned at that point and contacted law enforcement, the report said.
The officers observed the victim to have an imprint of teeth marks in the spot consistent with where the video depicted S biting him. He also had a laceration under his nose above his lip that appeared fresh, as blood could be seen. He refused medical services, the report said.
An officer asked the victim to send him the video, but he became defensive, saying he did not want S to go to jail. The officers explained their domestic violence protocol and again asked for a copy of the footage, which he refused. He also refused to complete a sworn written statement. The report noted an odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage coming from the victim’s person that grew stronger when he spoke.
One of the officers entered the residence with permission from the victim and spoke with S where she was seated on the bed in the bedroom. She appeared visibly upset. The officer asked what happened, to which she said the victim had a drinking problem and became a different person when he drank on an empty stomach, the report said.
S further advised that the night before, she went to a friend’s house to get away from the situation since the two had been arguing. After church Sunday, he began accusing her of cheating and kept verbally accosting her about it despite her denying the claim. He did not touch her that day, but he sometimes would push her, the report said.
At some point during the argument, the victim stood in S’s way when she tried to retrieve his beer from the refrigerator. This was when she bit him. She went to leave with her cat and observed the victim throwing her items out of the door, so she contacted the police, the report said.
The officers did not observe any physical marks on S’s body. She was offered the opportunity to complete a statement and photographs, which she refused, the report said.
The report noted S and the victim had been engaged in a romantic relationship and lived together as a single household for the past three years.
S was ultimately arrested on charge of battery (domestic). She was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
