On Sunday afternoon, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible traffic collision that resulted in a DUI arrest.
According to officials, deputies responded to the area of Bumpnose Road in Marianna and found a white Chevrolet truck without a license plate stuck in a ditch.
The driver, Roy Collins, was asleep in the driver’s seat with open alcoholic beverages in the vehicle, officials said. Collins was asked to step out of the vehicle and showed signs of impairment.
When officers asked Collins for his license, he said he did not have one. Deputies discovered that his license had been suspended in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, and 2024. Collins was labeled as a Habitual Traffic Offender in 2014 and had his license revoked permanently for four or more DUI offenses, according to authorities.
Collins was arrested and is being charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Driving While License Suspended or Revoked with Knowledge, and Refusal to Submit to Testing.
