'Help me': Amazon driver steps up after victim's whispered plea

A woman’s nearly silent plea for help spurred an Amazon driver to take action and help her get free from her alleged attacker.

When the driver arrived at the home on Friday afternoon, the woman whispered to him “help me,” and that’s all it took. Soon, the driver was on the phone, calling the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office and summoning deputies.

The arrest affidavit noted the victim had red marks around her neck, and she detailed the alleged incident that led her to wanting to escape the home.

Based on her reports and after speaking to the suspect, identified as Frank Mandolini, the 43-year-old man was booked into the Indian River County jail on a count of felony battery by strangulation.

The officer noted in his report that Mandolini admitted several times en route to the jail that he had choked the victim.
