Hernando County man dies after striking utility pole while not wearing seatbelt: Florida Highway Patrol.

A man died on Sunday after he struck a utility pole and was ejected from his vehicle, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

According to FHP, the 23-year-old Weeki Wachee man was traveling west on SR-50 near US-19 around 12:42 a.m.

The man lost control of the vehicle while taking a curve in the roadway, FHP said, before veering onto the north shoulder of the highway and hitting a utility pole.

The vehicle was then redirected back across the road onto the south shoulder where it overturned.

FHP said the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries.
