I-75 congested in Marion County after multi-vehicle accident

Traffic is congested along separate, multi-mile stretches of Interstate 75 in Marion County as of this afternoon, with one slowdown attributable to a multi-vehicle accident.

According to the Florida Department of Transportation, a multi-vehicle crash occurred in the southbound lanes, near mile marker 353, at around noon today.

That incident resulted in a right shoulder blockage and has resulted in congestion in the southbound lanes this afternoon.

The northbound lanes of I-75 from mile marker 328 to “beyond mile marker 343” are also congested. That congestion has been recurring all day, according to FDOT.

Cameras managed by FDOT on the highway show traffic at a standstill as of 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

One camera at mile marker 339 shows a disabled vehicle in the shoulder, with a road ranger offering assistance as of 3:45 p.m.

In the past week, the interstate has seen an inordinate amount of traffic in part due to Hurricane Milton evacuees.

Congestion was reported all day long on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday along the highway’s section in Marion County.
