Investigation ongoing into fan fight at Pensacola Ice Flyers game, charges pending

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Videos going viral on social media show punches flying at the Pensacola Ice Flyers game Friday night.

It wasn’t between the hockey players — instead, the fight broke out between several people in the stands at the Pensacola Bay Center.

Pensacola Police tells WEAR News it all started because of people sitting in the wrong seats.

“From what we understand, someone sitting in someone else’s seat is what started the argument,” Officer Mike Wood said. “As to who threw the first punch, we’re still investigating that.”

Videos on social media show the incident starting with an apparent argument between fans. Pushing and shoving then ensues.

Not too long after, punches start flying.

Video shows one man seemingly leap over seats to hit another man.

In another angle of the video, you see a woman get thrown to the ground, with her shirt nearly coming all the way off in the process.

In that same video, seconds later you see a man wearing a black jersey make contact with a woman seated in front of him, punching her repeatedly at least five times before he’s held back.

In another angle of the fight, you see the woman’s face bloodied from the brawl.

At least five people were involved in the violence, according to police.

“It’s something that’s not gonna be tolerated and that’s why charges are pending,” Officer Wood says.

So far, four suspects have charges pending for array and simple battery. Their identities have not yet been released.

“We want everybody to come to these events and have a good time and not get into fights,” Officer Wood said. “So hopefully this is going to stay an isolated situation.”
