UPDATE: The roadway is now open, according to officials.
Officials said there is one fatality from this accident. They are cleaning up the scene and the roadway should be open in a couple of hours.
Five people were taken to the hospital following a single-vehicle accident on Highway 98 near Tyndall Bridge.
The accident occurred in the eastbound lane of Highway 98 coming from Tyndall Bridge. At this time the the westbound lane of 98 in front of Rodeos restaurant is being used for east and west-bound single-lane traffic.
According to authorities, the driver attempted to pass another vehicle while speeding, resulting in the vehicle hitting a pole, flipping, and then hitting a tree as well as another pole.
There were five people in the vehicle, all taken to the hospital with injuries. No other information has been provided at this time.
