Daniel Gallagher, from Meenakillew in Ardara, Co. Donegal, was seriously injured in Orlando, Florida on Friday, December 29.
He is receiving 24-hour care by the medical team at Orlando Regional Medical Centre.
A GoFundMe appeal has been set up to help cover medical and travel expenses for Daniel and his family.
The post reads: “On Friday the 29th of December, Daniel Gallagher of Meenakillew, Ardara Co.Donegal was involved in a serious road traffic accident in Orlando Florida while on holidays with family.
“Daniel suffered severe injuries and is currently in a critical condition in Orlando Regional Medical Centre and is under constant 24-hour care by a team of doctors.
“A group of Daniel’s friends have come together to set up this campaign to support Daniel and the Gallagher family to cover medical and travel expenses as there will need to be a family member available at all times in Orlando with power of attorney to make important decisions on his behalf if and when the need arises.
“Hopefully Daniel can make a full recovery and can return home to Ireland as soon as doctors deem him well enough to travel.

So far, the fundraiser has raised €28,960 with a target of €50,000.
Many people also wished Daniel a speedy recovery.
