Kitchen damaged in fire at popular café in Putnam County, residents say

Firefighters battled a blaze at a popular restaurant in Interlachen on Thursday morning.

Putnam County Fire Rescue and Melrose Fire Department firefighters responded to Hog Wild Country Café on County Road 310.

When they arrived, about half the restaurant was on fire. Crews were able to knock the fire down quickly.

A resident whose son works at the restaurant says that although the damage isn’t visible from the outside, she was told the kitchen is very damaged.

B C, a resident who runs the Interlachen Word of Mouth social media page, says the news is getting lots of reactions.

“The outpouring of support for them, for Tony and them, has been really big in that community, especially in a community of only about 1,500 people,” said C. “I look at the comments… I’ve had people from different states Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina.”

The restaurant thanked first responders on social media and said they were assessing the damage:

“Early this morning, Hog Wild Country Café experienced a fire at our restaurant. While this is an incredibly difficult moment for our team, we are grateful beyond words for the swift response and dedication of the first responders who arrived on the scene. Their quick action prevented the situation from becoming even more devastating, and we cannot thank them enough for their service to our community.

We are currently assessing the damage and working to determine the next steps. Our priority is the safety and well-being of our staff, guests, and neighbors.

We appreciate the outpouring of support we’ve already received from our amazing community. Please bear with us as we navigate this challenging time, and stay tuned for updates.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
