Lake County man dies after collision with dump truck

A Lake County man has died after a collision with a dump truck.

The 58-year-old Groveland man was driving a 2017 Ford F-350 truck towing a trailer at 4:26 p.m. Tuesday westbound on County Road 474 east of State Road 33 when a tree fell on his vehicle, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. This caused the driver to enter the eastbound lane and into the path of a 2004 Mack dump truck driven by a 47-year-old Kissimmee man.

The Groveland man and a 40-year-old Groveland woman who had been a passenger were airlifted to Osceola Regional Hospital. The driver later died of injuries suffered in the crash. The passenger was critically injured. A second passenger, a 34-year-old Groveland man, was seriously injured.

The dump truck driver was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
