Lake County man who allegedly attacked mother tracked down in Oklahoma

Lake County man who allegedly attacked mother tracked down in Oklahoma

A Groveland man was arrested on a warrant in Oklahoma this week for pushing his 70-year-old mother at her office earlier this year.

On Feb. 3, a deputy with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic battery at PAL Realty, located at 25327 U.S. Hwy. 27, Leesburg, according to an affidavit of probable cause out of Lake County. Upon arrival, he met with the female victim who advised that her son, 50-year-old MMB, came to her work and caused a disturbance.

The victim stated B had mental health issues and had previously pulled a knife on his wife, which led him to staying at her house for two months. During this stay, he showed strange behavior, including screaming in the middle of the night and demanding money, the affidavit said.

On the day of the incident, B stormed into the victim’s office, threatened her about his car in her garage and stated he would kill her if anything happened to it. She also reported that he pushed her with both hands during the altercation, causing her to stumble backward. The affidavit noted the victim was 70 years old.

The victim mentioned B had been living in the woods for about a month and had posted concerning messages on Facebook, which she reported to an officer while she was in the hospital. She also mentioned that his biological father was schizophrenic and expressed concern about B’ mental state, the affidavit said.

During the conversation, the victim’s daughter-in-law arrived and provided more information. She stated that she and B were legally married but did not live together. He tried to stab her with a knife in the past, and he was a veteran diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, the affidavit said.

B’ wife described his recent behavior, including an incident where he demanded his money and belongings, then left angrily. She gave a description of his vehicle, a 2023 Ford Bronco, and mentioned he had been living in a tent, the affidavit said.

The deputy then spoke with a female witness who stated B stormed into the office screaming and cursing at the victim. He threatened to kill her. The victim backed up to the hallway, and he pushed her by the shoulders, the affidavit said.

B was ultimately arrested in Oklahoma and transferred from Craig County Jail to Lake County Jail. A Lake County warrant issued after the incident charged him with domestic battery on a person 65 years or older, and he is being held without bond.
