The Polk County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal crash in Lakeland.
According to the PCSO spokesman, the crash happened around 3:44 a.m. at Combee Road and Main Street between a freight truck and pedestrian.
The victim was walking in the northbound lane of Combee Road when he was hit by the truck. The truck was also driving north and was about to make a right turn, according to PCSO.
The driver of the truck was not injured, and cooperated with deputies during the investigation.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital, but died shortly after arriving.
Both directions on Combee Road were shut down, but they have since reopened.
