A Leesburg man was arrested for allegedly punching his ex-girlfriend and trapping her in a motel room after she refused to have intercourse with him.
A deputy responded to a domestic disturbance at an undisclosed Marion County motel on Saturday morning, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival, the deputy met with the female victim who advised that she was engaged in an altercation with her ex-boyfriend, 23-year-old MP. They were drinking downtown, and on the way back to their motel, he expressed his desire to have intercourse with her. She told him she did not want to, which caused a verbal altercation, the report said.
They got back to the hotel where the fight continued. The victim started filming P, and he took the phone from her. He then punched her in the face and head several times. She was unsure of a lot of the details about being punched, as she passed out when she was struck, the report said.
The victim stated she had a busted lip caused by P hitting her face. She also said he may have marks on his neck from her trying to get away from him. The deputy did notice a minor laceration to the victim’s bottom lip and blood staining the white mattress sheets in the motel room, the report said.
The victim gave the deputy a video of part of the altercation with P. In it, he was seen talking about the victim recording him. He then grabbed her phone in an aggressive manner while it was in her hand, the report said.
Additionally, the victim stated they were in a past intimate relationship that ended about one week prior to this incident, the report said.
The deputy next spoke with P and read his rights. He advised that they went out and had a “perfect night,” during which the victim was intoxicated. They returned to the motel where an argument ensued. The victim went to bed, woke up later and began “tweaking.” She believed he did something to her, the report said.
The deputy confronted P about him trying to grab the phone from the victim, to which he said she tried to grab the phone from him. He uttered that he never touched or struck her. When asked how she got an injury to her lip, he claimed she chewed her lips, the report said.
The deputy observed red marks on the side of P’s neck, consistent with the victim’s statement. P claimed he got them from him and the victim “making love.” The report noted he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during this interaction.
The deputy spoke to the victim again, and she explained that after she woke up from being knocked unconscious, she tried to leave the motel room. She was in the corner of the room and would try to stand up to leave, but P would push her back toward the ground to prevent her from doing so, the report said.
The victim got up and ran toward the door to which he grabbed her and threw her back on the ground. He did eventually allow her to leave the motel room, and bystanders outside heard him yelling at her, the report said.
P was ultimately arrested on charges of kidnap (false imprisonment – adult) and battery. He was transported to Marion County Jail to be held without bond and later released.
