Leesburg woman jailed after alleged altercation with gal pal

A Leesburg woman was arrested for battery after her girlfriend loudly closing a door sparked a verbal dispute turned violent.

A deputy responded to 12th and Main streets regarding a battery at an undisclosed Leesburg residence around 8 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, the deputy met with the victim who stated that at about 7 a.m., she closed her shared bedroom door which created a loud noise. As a result, her girlfriend, 35-year-old CLL, woke up and started to verbally abuse the victim by belittling her and using derogatory language. During L’s abusive pattern of behavior, the victim told her she hated her, the report said.

This caused L to grab the victim’s hair. She pulled the victim downward onto their bed where the victim lay stomach side down. This was when L punched the victim from behind to the right side of her face. The victim eventually got out from under her and left without further incident, the report said.

While on scene, the deputy examined the victim for injuries. She had a visible injury tthat appeared consistent with being struck right next to her right eye. She described her and L’s relationship as being romantic for the past several years, the report said.

The deputy later met with L at the incident location. She advised that the victim made a loud noise that woke her up. Immediately after, the victim grabbed her face for no apparent reason. She acknowledged the fact that she was upset but claimed she did not strike the victim. While interviewing L, she became evasive toward providing specific details toward questioning, the report said.

L was subsequently arrested and charged with simple battery (domestic). She was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
