Machete attack over $5 injures two, PBSO says

A 58-year-old man has been accused of injuring two people in a machete attack after being asked to repay $5.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) reported that on Sunday at 7:33 p.m., they responded to a machete attack that left two people injured.

Upon arrival, deputies reported finding both victims with deep cuts on their arms, hands, and other parts of their bodies.

The victims told the deputies that J P was the attacker, claiming he swung a large machete at them.

The trouble started when one of the victims confronted P about a $5 debt, the probable cause affidavit explained. An argument ensued, escalating quickly when P allegedly pulled out the machete and began swinging it.

According to the affidavit, during the altercation, the victim tried to defend himself and attempted to wrestle the weapon away from Permis.

A witness told PBSO that a bystander tried to intervene but ended up getting injured in the process.

PBSO located P outside of his home and took him into custody.

P has been accused of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
