Man accused of breaking into home, tying two women up with electric wire and shoelaces.

More than four years after a break-in where two women in Lantana were tied up and robbed, investigators have tracked down a third suspect.

Palm Beach County jail records show Daniel Green was booked on a home invasion count for the 2019 incident, which the Lantana Police Department alleged he committed with two other people. According to the Lantana Police Department, the home invasion occurred at 3:08 a.m. on Dec. 16 of that year. When officers arrived, they were met by two women, both of whom are now 69 years old.

The first victim told investigators she woke up briefly and got out of bed to have a flashlight pointed at her by someone yelling “POLICE” and telling her to “get down.” She told police fear made her combative when she realized the man in her home wasn’t a police officer.

The suspect allegedly started strangling her with a shirt and hit her, leaving bruising on her neck and arms, the report continued. Fearing she wouldn’t survive, the woman laid down and complied with the suspects, who tied her up with an electrical wire and shoelaces, according to the arrest report.

he suspects began to demand the location of a safe and drugs, the report continued. In a panic, she told them that there was no safe or any drugs in the home, and they had the wrong house. She told police the suspects armed themselves with two handguns stolen from her nightstand.

The second victim recalled being asleep in a spare bedroom when she was awoken by masked men pointing guns at her. They proceeded to put a knee in her back and tied her up with an electrical wire.

The report says one of the men demanded all of her money, phones and credit cards to which she complied. They allegedly threatened to kill her if she didn’t cooperate.

Both of the women remained tied up as the robbery took place, the report stated.

One of the women said after a while she heard no voices and was able to free herself from her restraints. She went to the spare bedroom where the second victim was and was able to free her.

The reports state the first victim walked through the home and found several televisions were stolen, as well as cash, her iPhone, iPads, and Mac computers. The victim then walked outside to find that her 2008 silver Lexus RX350 had been stolen.

The victim’s Ring cam footage showed three men loading her Lexus with TV’s and other property from the house before their seen leaving the home, the report stated.

More camera footage showed the Lexus driving to a driveway on Lands End Road and meeting a black sedan, the arrest report continues, before following the black sedan as they both proceeded to leave the area.

The report says through an automated license plate reader the black sedan’s plate was found to be assigned to a white Nissan SUV, indicating the tag and the vehicle had been stolen. Through a two-day investigation police were able to identify the owner of the black sedan. The report indicated the black sedan, identified as a BMW, was the vehicle involved in an armed carjacking on Dec. 7, 2019.

Police identified Tiguan Smith, 26, as the person who stole the black sedan and one of the suspects involved in the home invasion. On Dec.19, 2019, a search warrant was issued at Smith’s residence where police reported finding the silver Lexus, which still held the victim’s stolen televisions.

Since his arrest police monitored Smith’s phone calls from the Palm Beach County Jail which led them to two other suspects involved in the home invasion, Sean Vanburen, now 34, and Daniel Green, 23, the arrest report stated. Vanburen, who is the brother of Smith, was arrested on Jan. 23, 2020, for his part in the home invasion.

Green was interviewed by the Lantana Police Department about his involvement in the home invasion. He denied being in Lantana the day of the robbery and withheld information about Vanburen being involved, police alleged. The report says that Green gave police his cell phone and signed a consent to search form.

Through an investigation of phone records, Green was identified as a third suspect, and he now faces a count of a home invasion robbery while wearing a mask. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 27, 2024.
